St. Pius X School is nestled in the center of Lake Vista, a unique garden neighborhood with five large, tree-lined parks all leading to the parish. Many students walk or ride bicycles along the lanes leading to St. Pius, and all of our students enjoy exploring the natural landscape surrounding the campus. St. Pius is also about one mile from Lake Pontchartrain, which affords our science teachers unique lessons about this southeastern Louisiana estuary. With little vehicle traffic in this idyllic landscape, our students can learn and thrive in a peaceful environment where they feel safe.
At the heart of the St. Pius X campus is the church. Students attend weekly Mass, where they practice leadership and public speaking skills by planning and executing services. Adjacent to the church is the American Institute of Architects' (AIA) award-winning Blessed Francis Seelos Chapel. Students of the Week may invite their parents to visit the adoration chapel with them during their school day.
St. Pius has two academic buildings, one each for the lower and middle schools, which are separated by a courtyard. The school underwent major construction, which included the addition of a new cafeteria and a state-of-the-art gymnasium.
St. Pius prides itself on its cross-curricular approach: a science lab, art studio, computer lab, math classroom, and library share one hallway.
There are three playgrounds on campus: one for PK3, one for PK4, and one for lower school students. Middle school students enjoy social and athletic games under the shady oaks around the school.
