St. Pius X is a Roman Catholic school within the Archdiocese of New Orleans. In this Christ-centered learning environment, students are taught Christian values, stewardship, and the sacraments of the Church.
Each morning students and teachers gather together to say a morning prayer, make special announcements, and to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. There's no better way to start the day than praying as a community!
Second grade students prepare and receive Reconciliation and First Communion during their school year.
Once a week, students in kindergarten through seventh grades come together to celebrate Mass at St. Pius X Church. The PK4 classes occasionally join the community for Mass while sitting with their seventh grade "buddies." Each grade takes a turn to host Mass, including the coordination of readings, songs, gift bearers, and altar servers. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend the school Masses.
Students participate in Service Learning Projects throughout the school year. Every class at St. Pius X School plans an activity to interact with the community or those in need. Through the Helping Hands Service Learning Program, seventh grade students participate in multiple service projects that include doughnut sales to benefit Covenant House; Thanksgiving Food/Can drive for St. Vincent de Paul; food sorting at Second Harvesters; support for New Orleans firemen and/or policemen; Christmas and Easter parties for the children in the nursery at Covenant House; cooking and serving meals at the Lakeview Shepherd Center and additional projects during the school year.
