All Saints' Day Mass
Kindergarten students plan and participate in this school Mass dressed as their patron saint.
Appreciation Week
In conjunction with Catholic Schools Week, a week is designated to honor faculty, cafeteria, maintenance, principals, secretaries, and pastors for their service to our school.
Athletic Activities
Several of our faculty coach a variety of after-school athletic activities for our students. Some sports include flag football, volleyball, cross-country track, basketball, cheerleading, and cabbage ball. Our Men’s Club also offers a Sports Program.
Back to School Night (Parents' Open House)
The meeting begins in the Father A.T. Screen Gym. The pastor and the principal speak and introduce the faculty. Then, parents visit their child's classroom(s) to meet their child’s teacher(s). (Adults only-no students)
Balloon Day / Bubble Day
On the last day of school at St. Pius X, balloons are provided by the Student Council and given to the 7th graders. Balloons are released into the air at the end of the day while the rest of the students blow bubbles.
Bingo/Pizza
Bingo/Pizza Night is held in conjunction with the Family Sunday weekend. Students, parents, faculty, staff and guests are invited to attend.
Blessing of the Animals
In recognition of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, parishioners, and St. Pius X families are invited to bring their pets to the school yard for a blessing.
Book Fair
A book sale is held and classes are assigned specific shopping times. Parents are encouraged to attend and shop with their children. Teachers post "wish lists" at the Book Fair of books they would like to have for their classrooms.
Catechetical Sunday
Catechetical Sunday recognizes all those involved in teaching religion in St. Pius X Parish. A ceremony recognizing all faculty, staff and administrators is held at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass.
Catholic Schools Week
A week long celebration is held by St. Pius X School and Archdiocese of New Orleans to acknowledge the Catholic Identity of our Catholic School system. A special Mass is held by St. Pius X to honor staff for their long-term commitment to the school and another Mass is sponsored by the Archdiocese to honor schools for achievements. St. Pius X was honored for achieving the national accreditation for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
Fall Festival
The Fall Festival (sponsored by the Women's Club) is two days of fun including a haunted house (sponsored by the Men's Club), hayrides, pony rides, game booths, delicious food, shopping boutique and a live band. Parent volunteers are needed to work booths. Each class performs a musical number on the stage as part of the entertainment.
Family Sunday
A celebration of “family” sponsored by our parish. Families from the Parish are asked to bring up the offertory gifts at the Masses.
Field Day
Students compete in sports activities. Competition includes individual and team events with ribbons awarded. Each class orders matching T-shirts.
First Communion
Second grade students from the school and the Parish School of Religion receive their First Communion. A reception follows hosted by the Women's Club.
Fish Fry
An event held during Lent for St. Pius X families, parishioners, and friends. The Fish Fry is sponsored by the Scouts. Dine-ins or take-outs are available.
GALA
A GALA is sponsored by the St. Pius X Parish and School proceeds will be used for capital improvements from upgrading technology to improving our arts and science laboratory programs.
Grandparents' Day
Grandparents are invited to attend a special Sunday mass with the students. The book fair will follow with refreshments. Our students create and design special gifts for their grandparents.
Gift of the Eucharist
In preparation for receiving the Sacrament of First Communion, the 2nd grade school students and Parish School of Religion students participate in a prayer service and re-enact the Last Supper. This event is organized by the 2nd grade room mothers.
Living Rosary
The Living Rosary is held at school with the students lined up in the shape of a rosary. Student representatives from each class lead the prayers of the rosary. Parents are welcome to attend and participate.
Mardi Gras Parade
A Mardi Gras parade is held on the school grounds sponsored by the Mothers' Club. A Royal Court is comprised of teachers years of service to the school. A student King and Queen are selected by a raffle each year.
May Crowning and Mothers' Day Mass
Students bring flowers to school to be placed on the altar for a Mass to honor Mary. The first grade students and their mothers participate in this Mass.
Men's Club Meeting
Meetings are held during the school year, usually on Thursday evenings. The pastor reviews upcoming events, officers give committee reports, and a special guest speaker is featured. Refreshments are served.
Men’s Club and Women’s Club Joint Meeting
A joint meeting is held once a year with the men and women followed by a social.
Masses
School Masses are held three times a month, usually on Wednesdays, at 9:15 a.m. Each grade plans a Mass including selecting a theme, songs, and acting out the gospel. The grade planning the Mass is shown in parentheses on the school calendar. Parents are always welcome to attend.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
These Conferences are held twice a year. The teachers schedule conference times with the parents and students.
Prospective Parents Open House
This meeting provides information about St. Pius X to prospective parents. Tours are conducted by St. Pius Parents.
Pumpkin Patch
Sponsored by the Men’s Club, students decorate pumpkins. Ribbons are awarded to students who are selected “the best” in their selected category. The contest is held prior to the Fall Fest.
Reconciliation Service
For First Communion recipients. A reception follows hosted by the Mothers' Club.
Scouts
Offered after school to boys in grades 1st – 7th and girls in grades K-7th to enrich our students morals and character.
St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's Day Mass
The Kindergarten class coordinates this school Mass honoring St. Joseph and St. Patrick. Kindergarten students' fathers are invited to participate in the Mass.
St. Pius X Choir Christmas Concert
In keeping with the holiday spirit, the band and choirs of St. Pius X perform a Christmas concert in our gym at 9:15 a.m.
Spirit Day
Students and teachers demonstrate school spirit with a pep-rally. Classes perform cheers in preparation for field day, which is held the following day.
